Children and Youth Ministries

Youth Ministry

Our purpose is that through the leading and power of the Holy Spirit to minister to, as well as, disciple youth to desire to intimately know and love Jesus and want to share Him with others. We pray for conversion to occur in the hearts and souls of the youth. We strive to equip the youth for the work of ministry.

Belong — to the family of faith; Romans 1:6 – And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

Believe – in Jesus Christ; Romans 10:10 – For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Become – a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ; John 1:12 – Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

Age Group – Birth to 18 years old

YM Leader Meeting – Monthly on the Monday following the 2nd Sunday as scheduled

Children’s Worship

Our focus is on engaging and encouraging children to choose to have and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Worship services strive for a personal experience/encounter with the Holy Spirit and to engage the children through praise and worship, interactive teaching and activities.

Age Group – Kindergarten through 5th Grade

Meeting Date – 1st, 2nd & 3rd Sundays at 8:00 am Worship and 11:00 am Worship Service in the Multi-purpose Room of Family Life Center

Youth Bible Study

Our focus is on engaging and encouraging the youth and teens to choose to and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Strives to provide spiritual formation through Bible study to sustain them in a life of spiritual growth.

Age Group – Kindergarten through High School [age/grade classes]

Meeting Date – Wednesday Nights from 6:30p – 7:30p upstairs in the Family Life Center

Youth Ushers

Our ministry purpose is to offer our young people the opportunity to serve God and the Mount Moriah Baptist Church congregation at worship services. Our goal is to meet and assist members and friends during the worship experience.

Age Group – 5 to 17 years old

Meeting Date – Last Tuesdays of every month at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary

Youth Choir

We, the Youth and Teens of Mount Moriah, lift our voices and hearts to the Lord in spirit and in truth. Psalm 68:4 & John 4:24

Age Group – Ages 5 to 18 years old or Kindergarten through 12th grade

Rehearsal Dates – 3rd and 4th Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:00 am in the Choir Room.

Dance Ministry

The mission of the dance ministry is to glorify the Lord, as demonstrated in scripture, through the worship art of dance. Our purpose is to spiritually cultivate its members, the church, and the community through song and praise accompanied by the wonderful expression of dance. Each member will be able to utilize their talents in the spirit of Holiness.

Age Group – Ages 5 to 18 years old or Kindergarten through 12th grade

Rehearsal Dates – Saturday mornings from 9:30 am to 12 noon in Aerobics room of Family Life Center

Oratorical Ministry

Ministry goal is to help children develop oration skills and empower them to evangelize and advocate for themselves verbally. We also work to assist children who have a natural gift for oration develop their God-given talents.

Age Group – All ages

Meeting Date – 4th Wednesdays of the month at 6:30 pm. Upstairs in the Chapel building.
When preparing for an event, every Wednesday at 6:30 pm.

Mission Friends

This is a mission study for toddlers to 6-year-olds.

Age Group – Toddlers to 6 years old

Meeting Date – 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm in the EL Jackson Fellowship Hall

ACTeens

ACTeens is a mission organization for young girls. The ministry allows young ladies to develop and grow in their relationship with Christ and their peers. The young missionaries are encouraged to look beyond themselves and actively promote missions.

Age group: 12 – 17 years old or Grades: 7th – 12th

Meeting Date – 4th Saturdays @ 9:00 am – On the 2nd Floor of Chapel Building

AFC Drama Ministry

AFC Drama Ministry meets as needed prior to a production. Youth are welcome ages 2- 18 years old depending on the play.

Boy Scouts

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Age Group: 11 – 17

Meeting Date – Monday nights at 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall

Cub Scouts

Age Group: 6 -10

Meeting Date: Alternate Tuesdays at 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall

Venture Crew 469

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women. Venturing is an adventure with a purpose. It fosters positive attitudes towards service while helping young adults to develop camaraderie and leadership skills and most of all to have fun.

Age Group: 14 – 20

Meeting Date – 2nd and 4th Sundays at 1:30 pm upstairs in the Family Life Center

Meeting Date – Every other Tuesday 6:30p – 7:30p upstairs in FLC classrooms [alternates with Girl Scouts schedule]

The nursery is open on Sundays for both services and on Wednesday nights for Bible Study
